She Ran Off With the Money, Only to Be Bound by a Fake Eunuch

Su Tang is an unfavored Changzai in the Cold Palace. To get a hot meal in the bleak, bitter palace, she bribes a low-ranking “little eunuch,” newly castrated, with the few pieces of jewelry she has left.

The little eunuch is exceptionally handsome. Though gloomy and quiet, he is willing to do rough chores for her, like chopping wood and boiling water, after being won over by Su Tang's sweet words and gifts.

Su Tang treats him like a close sister. As she saves money, she tells him about her dreams: once the old emperor dies, she'll flee the palace with her stash and go to Jiangnan to keep a few handsome men.

Whenever she says this, the “little eunuch” gives her a meaningful look and smiles as he agrees.

On the day the old emperor dies, chaos erupts in the palace. Rumor has it that the Eastern Depot's powerful and ruthless Ninth Thousand Years has marched his troops in and taken the palace.

Taking advantage of the turmoil, Su Tang grabs her heavy little nest egg and happily rushes to the agreed dog hole, hoping to meet the little eunuch and say one last goodbye.

Someone does show up, but it's not the little eunuch. It's the Ninth Thousand Years, clad in a red-and-black python robe and stepping through a sea of blood.

Su Tang's legs go weak with fear, but the notorious killer strokes her cheek with a bloodstained fingertip. His gaze is obsessive and feverish, and he has exactly the same face as her close sister. “My lady, with all that money, which handsome man in Jiangnan were you planning to keep?”
