Reborn as the Last Emperor of the Southern Ming: A Catastrophe from the Start, I Take on the Manchus

I transmigrate into the body of Zhu Youlang, the last emperor of the Ming dynasty, and open my eyes to an utterly hopeless predicament: Kunming is under siege in 1659, Wu Sangui’s army is closing in, Qing troops outside the city are sharpening their blades, half the civil and military officials inside have defected, the food is gone, and the troops are scattered. Even the eunuchs are urging me to flee to Burma, where I’ll be kept under house arrest by Mang Bai and executed by Wu Sangui!

The original owner of this body was a coward who clung to life, knew nothing but running away and giving up, and became a laughingstock across the land. But I, Lin Chen, am a modern expert in both history and military affairs, and I’ve come armed with a century of foresight!

“Run? I will not run!”

I execute the traitors to establish my authority, urgently summon the God of War Li Dingguo back to my side, improve firearms and train a new army, confiscate corrupt officials’ wealth, stockpile provisions, ally with Zheng Chenggong, and win over the local chieftains!

Others see Kunming as a dead end. I will make it my base, use my battered troops as my foundation, take on Wu Sangui head-on, and crush the Eight Banners!

From an emperor fated to lose his country, to a great ruler who commands the world’s respect; from a corner of Yunnan and Guizhou, to uniting the Central Plains and crushing the Qing!

I, Zhu Youlang, swear here and now: Any who invade the Ming will be executed, no matter how far they come! Any who betray the Ming will be ground to dust!
