Did the silence last three seconds, or five seconds?
I didn't dare to look up and could only stare at the broken slate on the ground. The rain dripped down the ends of my hair and made tiny splashes on the slate. I could feel that gaze fixed on me like a substance, sweeping from the top of my head to my ankles, as if examining something that suddenly became suspicious.
"What did you say?"
The evil god's voice came from above, low and lazy, with a hint of amusement.
"God of Light," I swallowed and forced myself to raise my face to look at him, trying not to sound trembling in my voice, "he sent me down because he wanted to... Communicate with you."
