Xuanjizi, master of the Heavenly Secrets Pavilion, finds the son of his eldest disciple, Xiao Heng, who was lost to the world. Looking at the adorable little boy, his master grins mischievously. “Good disciple, the rule in our pavilion is that the last disciple to join ranks highest. Come on, I’ll take you back to the capital so you can be the ‘senior brother’ of your birth father, the regent!”
And so, five-year-old Lu Ye, clutching half a jade pendant, was led by his master into the regent’s mansion, where his father held power over the entire court.
Staring down at the little brat who could barely reach the table, the reserved regent Xiao Heng said coldly, “I’m the senior brother, and you’re the junior disciple.”
Lu Ye slapped the jade pendant onto the table. In a childish voice, he declared, “Are you blind? The last disciple to join ranks highest! By the rules, you have to call me Senior Brother! Got it, Junior Brother?”
Xiao Heng’s head throbbed. Just then, Liu Ruyan, the capital’s number-one “man-eater,” made a dazzling entrance, intent on winning the regent’s heart.
Lu Ye sneered. “Trying to steal my dad (crossed out), my junior brother? Liu Ruyan, has your harem of three thousand approved?”
From then on, the usually aloof regent’s mansion was turned upside down, and the whole capital watched in amusement. How was it that the regent, who killed without blinking, was bossed around day after day by a five-year-old “Senior Brother” and a drama queen “man-eater”?
