Celebrities in Trash Bags: Chinese Entertainment’s Stars Vie to Be Maids

Zhao Yi was a nobody in the entertainment industry, with his former company taking 70 percent of his earnings. His greatest hobby in life was scavenging for junk. Then he found a sharp-tongued cloth bag that called itself “Your Dad,” and everything changed. All he wanted was to quietly recycle trash, but the System kept shoving black cards at him and telling him to book out hotels, while making him roast washed-up superstars until they questioned their entire lives. Even worse, every night he had to sleep beside a randomly matched top-tier star. He couldn’t touch her, couldn’t leave, and had to feed her water. By day, he tramples all the major financiers, acquiring companies without so much as a word and wearing the lonely expression of someone invincible. At night, he has to accept the bows of a popular star in a maid outfit as she kneels before him in his villa. Zhao Yi sighs and tosses an empty can he picked up backstage at an awards ceremony into the cloth bag. “This life is such a hassle. I need to scavenge a bottle to calm my nerves.”
