Crowned Emperor at a Failing Zoo

Xu Zhixia unexpectedly inherits an estate left by a distant relative. She thinks she can lie flat, collect the money, and enjoy a leisurely retirement.

Instead, what she gets is a dilapidated zoo overgrown with weeds and on the verge of closing down!

Before she can grab her bucket and run, the [Shanhai Ascension System] suddenly binds itself to her and launches her on the road to a comeback: run the zoo, gather the faith of the people, ascend to become the Empress of Zoos, and lead the zoo to the top!

Xu Zhixia, suddenly clad in a yellow imperial robe: Wait, who wants to be empress of some shabby animals?

Are you nuts? This is a female-oriented novel, not a male-oriented one!

The zoo has only a handful of animals, and they’re all old, frail, or disabled. Whoever wants to look after them can do it. She’s done!

System: Don’t worry about the animals. I’ve got plans for them. Succeed at the mission and earn a 1-billion bonus. Fail, and you’ll be struck by heavenly lightning!

Xu Zhixia immediately caves: I’ll do it! I’ll get started right away!

From then on, every visitor to the zoo finds themselves wondering:

Why do the animals in this park look so strange?

The disabled animals can dance and pray for blessings. Fine, that’s one thing.

But there’s a winged dragon in the reptile house, and you say it’s a golden python?

There’s a fox with nine tails in the fox enclosure, and you say it’s a local white fox?

A snake with nine heads, and you say it’s a king cobra?

A gorilla that delivers takeout to visitors around the park, and you say that’s normal behavior?

The guinea pigs in the petting area are impossible to feed full, and you say they’re just growing and eat a lot?

And that snow-white creature on the lawn, with a lion’s body and horns, standing beneath a sign that says it tells fortunes all day long. You still insist it’s an alpaca?

Since when can an alpaca tell fortunes?

Xu Zhixia chuckles. “This is our immersive Shanhai zoo. They’re all fake, of course.”
