The Downcity Repairman: One Sword Strike to Destroy Gods and Buddhas!

When the neon lights go dark, thirty-three tiers of inverted heavenly gates descend over Blue Star.

Gods and Buddhas cast their eyes down from the sky, while mechanical demons hunt for lives among the ruins. Others awaken a System or seize the bloodlines of immortals, but Chen Jin, a prosthetic repairman from the Lower City, finds only a rusty, broken bronze sword.

No golden finger? Then he’ll treat the gods and Buddhas filling the sky as broken machines and take them apart, one by one!

[You cut open a faceless golden Buddha three stories tall and stripped away its Buddhist killing precepts. You attained enlightenment: physical salvation!]

[You dismantled the base code of the Martial Arts Era and routed Dragon-Subduing True Qi into your prosthetic servo. You assembled: a high-frequency plasma barrier!]

[You cracked Mount Mao talismans and cybernetic neurons, then smashed the axle of an extraterrestrial demon with a wrench. You created: a God-Slaying Engine!]

Others cultivate immortality; he takes things apart. He draws no power from the gods and forms no Nascent Soul or Golden Core. With nothing but a mortal’s flesh and bones, he forcibly takes control of the laws of the old heavens!

This is a lament for those born in the wrong era, and a tale of mortals’ fierce courage:

Conglomerate envoy Lin Qiao: Chen Jin, you’re nothing but a dog who scavenges in the Lower City. Don’t stand in my way as I become a god! (Childhood sweethearts, ultimately turned enemies.)

Confucian heir Xu Zhiwei: To serve the world, I have no choice but to ask you to die. (They shared a night together, only to turn their blades on each other.)

Scion of a great family Xiao Jue: I schemed against all living beings, yet never imagined the gods wouldn’t save anyone... Chen Jin, survive! (A schemer who ultimately died out of loyalty.)

All the sorrow in the world can be summed up in a single sentence.
