[Traditional imperial examinations + no System + political schemes + flood control + a family's rise]
After transmigrating to ancient times, he finds his family destitute, his father unjustly executed, and his mother seriously ill.
Looking at the drafty thatched hut and his little sister, gaunt with hunger, Shen Jianghe grits his teeth and picks up a book.
Fortunately, in his previous life he was an engineer at a provincial water conservancy institute, with modern hydraulic knowledge and thousands of poems in his head.
A local magnate cuts off my water supply? I'll design a siphon and underground channel to bring water to the fields!
Corrupt officials seize my land? I'll submit an essay, “On the Causes of the Yunmeng Floods,” and take it straight to the prefect!
From standing out in the county-level examination to repeatedly placing first in the prefectural examination.
From earning top honors in the provincial examination to parading through the streets as the top scorer in the palace examination.
Step by step, Shen Jianghe rises from a lowly peasant to the halls of power in Great Liang!
Powerful ministers form cliques and line their own pockets? In the name of flood control, he launches a sweeping anti-corruption campaign!
Foreign enemies eye the realm hungrily? He builds a massive irrigation project on the scale of Dujiangyan and fills Great Liang's treasury!
With the hardheaded reason of an engineering student and the romance of poetry passed down through the ages, he writes the legend of a great chief minister from humble beginnings!
