The first day All-Around Parent aired, it exploded on the trending charts.
Gu Nian, a former girl-group member mocked across the internet as an “outdated nobody,” appeared on camera barefaced, holding hands with two children. Before the comments could even start making fun of her, the producer respectfully addressed her: “President Gu.”
The investor in this parenting variety show, it turned out, was Gu Nian herself.

The director handed her a task card. “Prepare breakfast for your family without relying on a nanny or takeout.”
Gu Nian glanced at it for three seconds, then handed it to her nine-year-old son.
Her son tied on an apron, expressionless. “Leave it to me. Last time, Mom nearly burned down the kitchen.”

Half an hour later, the doorbell rang.
A man stood outside with a pink children’s suitcase in one hand and a little girl in his arms who looked exactly like him.
Movie star Lu Yanzhou, the man who had barely been seen since announcing three years ago that he was “studying directing.”
He leaned down and kissed Gu Nian on the forehead as if it were the most natural thing in the world. “Honey, I’m not late, am I?”

So...
The supposedly washed-up idol was actually a mogul.
The movie star who’d been out of the spotlight for three years had actually gone home to be with his wife and have children.
In other families, the parents look after the kids. In hers, the nine-year-old looks after the whole family.
And she’s exploiting every loophole in the show’s rules.
“This is supposed to be a parenting show, but she’s turned the rules into a business negotiation.”
Four families, eight children. They’re all old friends, and there’s no script.
A day in the life of an unconventional parenting variety show.
This book is very good, but I don't know if there will be another one 🙂🙂🙂
