After Entering a Dream to Save the Poor Little One

[An insecure, sensitive man in a wheelchair vs. a protective, oblivious ray of sunshine] Both leads are inexperienced

[A seemingly gentle but secretly dark male lead + an obsessive streak + mutual salvation + an adorably ditzy female lead]

Every night after falling asleep, Xu Miaomiao enters a novel she has read. There, she comes across Xie Gui, the supporting male character, being bullied. Unable to stand by, she chases off his tormentors.

…

The first time they met, fifteen-year-old Xie Gui watched her warily and asked in a low voice, “Why are you helping me? I don’t have any money. I’m… poor.”

Seeing how guarded he was, Xu Miaomiao found it amusing. She leaned down close to him and smiled. “What if I told you I’m the little Goddess of Mercy from heaven, and I came down especially to help you? Would you believe me, Xie Gui?”

Xie Gui stared for a long time at the red mole between her brows, then lowered his head in silence.

…

Xie Gui saw a woman suddenly appear atop a high wall that had been empty moments before. She sat there in a red dress, smiling at him with crescent-shaped eyes. Xie Gui thought he was seeing things.

When he was sitting in his wheelchair and his younger brother pushed him over to bully him, she chased his tormentors away. The look she gave him was full of a tenderness he couldn’t understand.

She said she was the little Goddess of Mercy from heaven and asked if he believed her.

He did.

…

The head of the Xie family in Jing City is a madman. Rumor has it he killed his father and desecrated the gods. In his madness, he ordered a temple to the Goddess of Mercy to be built, then spent every night pouring out his longing before her statue.

No one knows he does it all just to catch another glimpse of his little Goddess of Mercy.

…

“I’ve never believed in gods or Buddhas. I believe only in you.”, Xie Gui

A story of mutual salvation. The male lead is weak at first and quite pitiful, but his legs will recover.
