When Su Mi wakes up, she can't remember a thing.
The doctor tells her that she was in a car accident and that all she has left is an ID card and a shattered phone.
Su Mi calls the number listed under “Husband” in her recent contacts.
A man's deep, husky voice answers.
“So you've finally remembered me?”
Terrified by her amnesia and unsettled by his unfamiliar tone, Su Mi's eyes turn red.
“Hubby, I'm at the hospital. Can you come get me?”
The man's breezy voice falls silent for a moment.
Then he gives a scornful laugh. “Trying to fool me again?”
Su Mi has no idea why he would say that.
Like a lost lamb clutching at its only lifeline, she can't speak. All that comes out is a soft sob.
Hearing her tearful voice, the man on the other end reins in his emotions.
“Where are you?”
Not long after, an unfamiliar man appears in Su Mi's hospital room.
The tears at the corners of her eyes have yet to dry, and she's still wearing an oversized hospital gown.
The man who is, in name, Su Mi's husband freezes in place.
His voice drops lower. “You really don't remember anything?”
Su Mi seems to have found someone to lean on. “Hubby, you're the only one I remember!”
At her words, the man's hand at his side opens and closes.
He repeats what she just said.
“I'm the only one you remember?”
Su Mi nods earnestly. As if afraid he won't believe her, she wraps both arms around his waist.
Where Su Mi can't see, the man's Adam's apple bobs as if he's swallowing something.
He gives her a half-smile.
“Fine. Hubby's taking you home.”
