I Transmigrated to Another World and Want to Go Home

Lin Moyan never imagined he would transmigrate. He was a biology student at Tsinghua University who spent more time in the lab than in his dorm. His biggest worries were choosing a topic for his thesis and the sound of his roommate typing away in the middle of the night. Then he woke up with his head on the wooden table of a medieval tavern. The people around him wore coarse linen and discussed “testing,” “citizens,” and “kilns” in perfect Mandarin. There was only one moon outside the window, and not a trace of the Big Dipper in the night sky. This wasn't Earth, and his pockets held no phone or wallet, only a wooden plaque carved with unfamiliar characters and a notice inside an envelope: Take the Test of Wisdom in three days.

In the country of Verita, tests decide everything. Those who pass are supported by the state; those who fail become slaves, and even their families won't give them a second glance. There is the rumored “magic,” which only the chosen can use; stone tablets covered in puzzles, which only those who solve them are permitted to leave their names on; and robed figures who arrive punctually every month, leaving deep blue marks on parchment with their fingertips. Lin Moyan knows no magic, can't play chess, and can't read the writing of this world. But he'll soon discover that every test here examines what he does best: deduction, observation, and finding the optimal solution within a set of rules.

He wants to go home. But first, he has to survive every test. How far can a genius go in a world that uses intelligence as a blade?

Though he's no true genius. If he had to name a genius, there is only one person he would recognize.
