Live Until Dawn

In ancient times, the young dragon Xumi was falsely accused of stealing the Peaches of Immortality. Then, after Mount Buzhou collapsed, he was sentenced to have his dragon tendons torn out, his spiritual roots destroyed, and be cast down into the mortal realm to undergo a hundred cycles of reincarnation. Across those hundred lives, he was an abandoned child in a fishing village, a prince of Loulan, a carpenter in Jiangnan, a crown prince of Yan, an intelligence agent in the Republican era, and a farmer on the Loess Plateau... Every life was short, every life was hard, and in every life he struggled through love and loss, being loved and waiting. After a hundred lives, he discovered that he was not only a dragon, but also the “primordial chaos essence” cast off by Ying Yetian, lord of all demons. When Ying Yetian awoke, intent on devouring him, reclaiming everything, and overthrowing the Three Realms, Xumi drew on the “love” tempered in him over a hundred lifetimes. He did not destroy Ying Yetian; instead, he shared it with him, sharing his suffering and his love, and bringing him “home.”

Meanwhile, Qingxuan, the Heavenly Emperor’s junior fellow disciple, laid a three-thousand-year scheme to kill Ying Yetian. Crown Prince Changyan had not struck a drum for three thousand years out of guilt, while Xuyu of the dragon clan had lived in regret for three thousand years, keeping silent... As order crumbled, the desires of gods and demons poured forth, plunging the Three Realms into chaos. In the end, no one became a hero, and no one became a villain. Everyone sat beneath the osmanthus tree and ate a bowl of perfectly cooked white rice.

This is a story about “being alive.” It isn’t about a world-shaking effort to save everything, but the everyday heroism of choosing, amid countless hardships, to keep living, keep waiting, and keep loving.
