The book Moments from the Past is a collection of my memories of youth. I remember my father, mother, and older sister farming in Yangdun Township, Zengwan Village, and Linchangwan, and my sister and me attending Huangxiaowan Primary School. I remember the difficult years at Yaogang Village Primary School, and the education and care that Teacher Huang, Teacher Chu, Teacher Chen, Teacher Dai, and Principal Fan gave my sister and me. I am also deeply grateful to these teachers for working tirelessly, braving wind and rain, and teaching and guiding all the school's students day after day, year after year.
I recall my classmates and playmates in the book, especially Huang Wenhui, Qiu Chuanming, Huang Dan, Huang Wenfeng, Huang Wenfu, Zhang Tiansheng, Wu Linming, Liang Xiaobo, Zeng Ling, Dai Min, Dai Yun, Pei Renhua, and Yang Yong, recording and describing in detail the classmates I was closest to. I also write at length about my third brother Gao Hai and my nephew Yuanguo, as well as Great-Uncle Quantai, Uncle Maozhong, Aunt Liange, and my younger cousin Pingzi.
