Chen Yuanming, a modern young man, woke up and transformed into Tao Yuanming of the Eastern Jin Dynasty. Before he had time to be shocked by "I became a great poet", he was thrown into a real human nightmare: the nameless corpse walking on the river at night, the household register with the whole page cut out, Cheng's sister who copied the "lost register" before her death, Pang Canjun who disappeared mysteriously, and a saying quietly circulated among the refugees, there is no living person in the Peach Blossom Land.
He originally thought that "The Peach Blossom Spring" was just an idyllic dream passed down by later generations. It wasn't until he saw with his own eyes that in the troubled times of the Eastern Jin Dynasty, cannibalism, reorganization of the military government, displacement of refugees, powerful enclosures, hermits keeping secrets, and death in rivers and lakes, he realized that the so-called "Peach Blossom Spring" was not a fairyland at all, but a secret road specially designed to hide the lives of unknown people. Whoever masters it will master the living people, grain ships, mountain roads and retreats that are not included in the imperial books.
In order to survive, and to find out why he became "Tao Yuanming", Chen Yuanming had to pretend to be a scholar of the Eastern Jin Dynasty and circulate among the officialdom, clans and rivers and lakes, while using modern eyes to decipher the codes in "The Classic of Mountains and Seas", track down the refugees whose names had been erased, and find the bloody road leading to Taoyuan.
But the closer he gets to the truth, the more he discovers that the truly terrifying thing is not the dead, but the living, who never have names again. When he later wrote "The Peach Blossom Spring", there were not many living people left in the Peach Blossom Spring.
