Autumn 1978, Beijing.
Twenty-year-old Han Yu returned to the city from Beidahuang. What awaited him was not a home, but a utility room filled with his parents' belongings. The second uncle's family has long occupied the magpie's nest. His father was falsely accused of "corrupting technical funds" and died unjustly, and his mother was silenced for hearing things she shouldn't have heard. He didn't even have a household registration, so in order to have food and a bed, he had to start out as a street gangster.
While sorting out the belongings late at night, Han Yu pricked his finger on a rusty nail in the box board. Blood drops fell on an old book that had been dusty for decades - it was the "Wordless Book" left by my grandfather. Three ancient symbols slowly appeared on the yellowed page: technique, going, and coming. He used his grandfather's remaining ten silver coins in exchange for his first ability - "Escape Eyes".
From then on, he was able to see "qi" that ordinary people could not perceive. There is a dazzling evil spirit lingering in the old house, the sick and weak are wrapped in a gray-black death aura, and a genuine antique is glowing with the warm patina of time. In the stalls, he can recognize the treasures that are regarded as scrap metal at a glance; in the alleys, he can tell which house contains the evil array that kills people.
But what the eyes see is only the tip of the iceberg of the truth.
Why did the second uncle's family repay kindness with hatred? Who did his father offend back then? Why was the Scorpion Coffin Sha buried three feet deep in the ground at the door of the main house?
Han Yu only has a pair of eyes that can see through illusions, and a heavenly book that requires swallowing gold and silver in exchange for information. He wants to save money, secrets, and connections in the gray area, and step by step from a gangster to the Ninth Bureau, an organization that is not open to the public.
It is easy to take back the house, but to take back the truth, you have to risk your life.
