Half an hour before the college entrance exam, the invigilators were checking the admission cards of students entering the examination hall.
When my turn came, I handed mine to the teacher, but she stopped me at once.
“Are you Zhang Xinran?” she demanded.
I was stunned. I couldn't understand why she was asking.
But when I nodded, the invigilator looked at me as if I were making fun of her.
“Have you had plastic surgery? Otherwise, why doesn't the person on your admission card look like you?”
I stared in confusion at the photo on my card.
It had been taken during the school's photo session a month ago, and it clearly looked exactly like me.
No matter how I explained, the invigilator doubted my identity and insisted on waiting for a supervisor to check.
Just then, my homeroom teacher happened to pass by in the corridor.
I rushed over to ask for help.
“Teacher! The invigilator won't let me in. Please help prove who I am.”
But when she saw my admission card, she was horrified. She asked urgently,
“Why do you have Zhang Xinran's admission card?”
“Where is she? Why hasn't she gone into the examination hall yet?”
There were only fifteen minutes until the exam began, and I was nearly frantic.
I was Zhang Xinran. Why did they all insist I wasn't?
In the middle of the argument, I fell down the stairs, suffered a brain hemorrhage, and died!
When I opened my eyes again, I was back on the day of the college entrance exam.
