The Midnight Manhunter

In the unseen cracks of a city untouched by neon lies another world. My name is Lin Feng. On the surface, I’m an examiner at a funeral home; in truth, I’m a “medium” who walks the boundary between yin and yang. In this line of work, you talk to corpses, strike deals with vengeful spirits, and squeeze a living out of the dead’s final obsessions. Beneath this city’s glittering surface, every night brings filthy transactions and the souls of those who died unjustly. I’m the one who dredges up the secrets buried deepest in the dark, whether it’s a tycoon’s hidden will or the truth a murderer couldn’t take to the grave. Then a woman’s corpse with no memories is brought in. In her empty eye sockets, I see reflected a childhood that should have been dead and gone. Welcome to the night shift. Here, the dead are your clients, and crime is your stepping stone. Every séance could be the funeral you’ve arranged in advance for yourself.
