Tell Us About the Qing Dynasty

The country officially launched the compilation project of "History of the Qing Dynasty" at the beginning of the 21st century, but it has not yet been published. Since I can't see the official Qing history now, I'll write it myself. The history of the Qing Dynasty written by most people is either too academic, full of "examinations", "accordances" and "cases", and ordinary people feel sleepy after turning two pages; or it is too emotional, or it praises the Qing Dynasty to the sky, praising the "Kang and Qian Dynasties" and "perfect martial arts", without mentioning a word about the bloody massacre when entering the country; or they scold the Qing Dynasty as useless, as if three hundred years were nothing but darkness. I think both of these ways of writing are wrong. What I want to write is a book that allows you to read the history of the Qing Dynasty like a story. Be colloquial, don't be pretentious, don't drag out words. More importantly: be objective and fair, do not beautify or belittle. The words "objective and impartial" are easy to say but extremely difficult to do. Because what you are facing is a history full of controversy, scars, tragedy and absurdity. The Qing Dynasty was the last feudal dynasty in China. It completed the unification of the country and laid the foundation of modern China. However, it also engaged in "shaving hair and changing clothes", created the "Ten Days in Yangzhou" and the "Three Massacres in Jiading", and signed a series of unequal treaties that undermined power and humiliated the country. These things all really happened, and they are engraved in the annals of history, and no one can erase them. My principle is: as long as it is a historical event that actually happened and has a reliable source, it can and should be said. History is not a little girl left to dress up. You don't need me to tell you "what you can and cannot write." You just have to look at the facts. Whatever the facts are, I will write them.
