What is the Heavenly Dao? Nothing but an endless cycle of rewritten stories.
What is the Investiture of the Gods? Nothing but a fixed fate that controls life and death.
What is the Journey to the West? Nothing but a plot written long ago.
The countless heavens are all reproductions and offshoots of an ancient era; all living beings in the Three Realms endlessly cycle through the Heavenly Dao's game of chess.
A fallen Immortal Venerable is reborn as a mortal. Awakening in a single moment, he steps into a turbulent world of immortals and martial heroes. He sees through the illusions of the heavens, uncovers the secrets of the Investiture of the Gods, and breaks the fate of the Journey to the West, only to discover an even more terrifying truth about the Heavenly Dao behind this eternal cycle.
Immortals and Buddhas are not good, demons are not evil, and fate is not set by heaven.
