In a modern city where spiritual energy has run dry, demons and monsters lurk unseen. Zhou Tianyi is a Qi Refining cultivator and a student of both Chinese and Western medicine, a master of theory. His companion is a little black cat demon named Yutou. Yutou is an awakened black cat with the potential to grow nine tails. Her demon fire counters yin energy, and her senses are sharp. Cool and haughty, she nevertheless clings to her laid-back owner and no one else.
During an unexpected cave expedition, Zhou Tianyi’s friend Li Jiahao becomes a puppet of a thousand-year-old locust tree demon, half human and half plant, reduced to a tool for demons to drain vital energy from. As bizarre murders pile up, Zhou Tianyi is forced into action. With Yutou at his side, he ventures into danger to save his friend and rid the world of demons.
But while they’re fighting the locust tree demon, strange phenomena erupt in an ancient cave’s dry well, and they transmigrate to another world of cultivation, rich in spiritual energy.
From then on, the laid-back cultivator is forced to get serious: taking his little cat demon to fight monsters and level up, exploring the bizarre wonders of another world, and uncovering the secret behind the ancient well’s power to transport people across worlds.
So what if he’s only at the Qi Refining stage? With his theoretical knowledge, demon companion, and modern tricks, he can still carve out a path through the other world!
