In 2024, discharged special forces soldier Chen Ping and his mother, Chen Cuicui, a tai chi grandmaster, unexpectedly acquire a bronze blood-contract space. After filling it with supplies, they transmigrate to Beiping in 1936 and take over the bodies of an orphan and his widowed mother, two souls adrift in a world at war.
On the eve of the Marco Polo Bridge Incident, as the storm clouds gather, the mother and son are recruited by Shen Xiaolin, a veteran of the Military Statistics Bureau, for secret training in Xishan. They are also secretly inducted into the Party by Li Molin, the Chinese Communist Party's leader in Beiping.
From then on, Chen Ping bears three deadly identities:
Qingshi, a hidden Communist Party operative; Poison Fang, a Military Statistics Bureau agent prepared to die; and Chen Junsheng, an interpreter for the Japanese collaborationist regime.
Turning his space into a blade and tai chi into his backbone, he navigates between the Japanese invaders, the Military Statistics Bureau, and the underground Party, smuggling medicine, eliminating traitors, killing the enemy, carrying out suicide missions, and plotting on a grand scale.
From occupied Beiping to the flames of the War of Resistance, from lurking in the dead of night to the breaking dawn,
he holds fast to his beliefs amid lies and protects his homeland through bloodshed,
ultimately becoming a hidden hero of the revolution, rising from the depths of the espionage underworld to the glory of a flourishing age.
