A hidden descendant of the Shimotsuki clan, he lives in seclusion in Shimotsuki Village in the East Blue, carrying the ancestral black blade Shuangxian. Lazy and fond of sleep and idleness, his only resolve is to protect his younger sister Kuina and the companions by his side.
In the year Roger was executed, a mysterious force attacked the village. Forced to leave the East Blue to protect those he loved, he ventured into the turbulent Grand Line. Along the way, he encountered Baroque Works and the forces of Skypiea. He always saw himself as a “guardian,” never stealing the spotlight from the main crew, yet never backing down when his companions were in danger.
His Haki gradually awakened, and the bloodline of Ryuma began to unlock. Though he had no desire to chase fame or fortune, his strength would make the legend of the “Idle Sword” live on throughout the Grand Line. He would keep one corner of the world safe and fulfill a destiny written long ago.
