[Reading People] [Social Skills] [A Male-Oriented Power Fantasy]
After graduating from college, Zhou Jianchuan, born in a mountain village, passes the civil service exam with the highest overall score in the county. He expects to stay in the county, but an official transfer order sends him to the most remote township, where he serves tea, writes reports, sets up meeting rooms, and accompanies officials on field visits. Everyone sees him as young, unconnected, and short-tempered, and wants to take a shot at him. The township's old hands treat him like an errand boy and even put him in a dilapidated old school building that's close to collapse. But nobody knows that this sharp-tongued young man from a poor family is more gifted at reading people than he is at earning degrees. He can tell real anger from a test, whether a leader raising a cup wants water or a way to save face, and read the meaning in the smallest details: a pause, a change of wording, the order of the seats. Zhou Jianchuan has to learn one thing: passion alone won't keep you alive for long...
