In the summer of 1998, it was a rainy night in Wuhan. Eight-year-old Zhou Li was abducted and trafficked to Yangjialing Village deep in the Loess Plateau, where he was adopted by an old man who was blind in one eye - Grandpa Jing. There were no secrets in that abandoned cave dwelling, except for the well.
There is a stone tablet at the bottom of the well with 144 inscriptions. The old man said that those words had been there since he could remember them.
The first was quickly fulfilled. Then came the second, third... Accurate to the date, never failed.
Zhou Li - later called Yang Du - spent ten years copying all the inscriptions. He found that Article 94 said that he was admitted to college, and Article 78 said "The discoverer will see himself in Article 78."
He sets out to hunt down the puzzle.
From the Loess Plateau to the China University of Geosciences, from the Eye of the Sky to the Tunguska explosion site, from the luminous stone monument under the Icelandic glacier to the underground space two kilometers deep in the Antarctic ice cap - Yang Du approached the truth step by step, but found that he was standing in a causal cycle that had been written three hundred years ago.
Three major prophecies hang over the heads of mankind: "The Great Break", "The End of the Night" and "Echo".
And he - was not the person in the prophecy who finally reached the end of the monument. He is the "first person". Starting point. End.
A suspenseful epic that spans 300 years and 13 stone tablets. It combines Chinese Cthulhu, wits and reasoning, age rebirth and time causality paradox - about a well and its echoes that have been hidden for three hundred years.
