Xuan Hui heard the three words she had longed for, but there wasn’t a trace of love in Si Mo’s eyes. Her gaze was vacant, and she said it as casually as if she were commenting on the weather.
“I’ll let you go.”
After divorcing Xuan Hui, Si Mo gradually began to forget her, until one day, pain seized her heart and left her curled up in agony.
Then she remembered. She was supposed to love Xuan Hui, and she could only love her.
By the time she returned to the villa she had wanted to escape from countless times, Xuan Hui had become a painting hanging on the wall.
Si Yule sat before it, lost in thought.
“Mom, why couldn’t you love her a little sooner?”

Is it he or be? At present, I feel that be is more in line with the direction of the story. I look forward to the follow-up development.
