In Chi Li, a city governed by a rigid martial order, countless crimes lurk beneath rules that conceal them. Strange murders keep occurring, case after unsolved case piles up, and the truth is buried beyond reach.
The protagonist, Lin Jin, carries a secret past. Meticulous, cool-headed, and decisive, he understands the darkness and loopholes beneath the rules of the martial world. He enters the treacherous maze alone, becoming a seeker of light. Following the smallest clues, he hunts for the truth and cuts through the fog of human malice.
Murders that seem to have nothing in common and clues deliberately erased all lead to power struggles among martial clans and dark dealings beneath the strict martial code. They also conceal a shocking conspiracy capable of shaking the order of the entire city.
Powerful forces bear down on him, killers strike back, and the rules bind him at every turn. Lin Jin faces danger at every step, yet never abandons his principles. Guided by his obsession with "embers," he burns away false appearances, breaks through the chains of the martial code, and vows to uncover the truth behind every case, clear the names of the wronged, and restore peace to the world.
