The Timid One's Immortal Cultivation Tale

In his previous life, he was a cowardly beggar who got beaten to death for running his mouth. After transmigrating to the cultivation world, he barely scrapes by as the lowest-ranking servant disciple in the Shocking Heaven Sect. Hell from the start. He retains his old gift for cowardly, venomous insults, and gains an even more timid streak in this new world. Whenever trouble arises, he drops to his knees. His trash talk is unbeatable: just a few words are enough to set someone off and earn him a savage beating. The only one by his side is Da Lao Hei, a stubborn donkey he rescued from a rubbish heap. The donkey loves stealing rare medicinal herbs from all over the sect and is widely recognized as a menace.

Once, after being beaten half to death, Gou Huo swallowed a strange insect and awakened the bloodline of an Undying Insect, gaining an uncanny body that could neither die nor be destroyed. Even more absurdly, he discovered that every time someone beat him, he would passively steal a sliver of the assailant's cultivation. Da Lao Hei, whose life was bound to his, shared the same trait: as long as Gou Huo stayed alive, the donkey couldn't die either. The more beatings it took, the faster it ran and the tougher its defenses became. And whenever it was beaten, Gou Huo grew stronger too. Thus began a ridiculous yet efficient cycle of "leveling up": his sharp tongue draws hatred → he gets beaten → steals cultivation and grows stronger → Da Lao Hei steals treasures and attracts even more powerful enemies → he is forced to face even more brutal beatings and steal even more cultivation. His cultivation snowballs, but his cowardly nature and poisonous tongue remain rock-solid, until everyone who tries to teach him a lesson ends up becoming an experience point source for him…
