After reading the original novel Zhu Yu and watching the TV drama, I was struck by the pairing of Qi Min and Yu Qianqian. There aren't many scenes featuring them in the novel or the show, but every one is charged with tension.
This fanfiction begins with a long-buried secret from a “past life”: the bond between Qi Min and Yu Qianqian runs far deeper than anyone knows. They aren't meeting for the first time. After a cycle of reincarnation spanning time, fate has brought them together again. In this life, Qi Min is a prince burdened by shackles, while Yu Qianqian is an “anomaly” who can see what lies ahead.
