My Whole Family Is a Bunch of Brutes, but a Ten-Year-Old Bookworm Leads Us to Greatness

In the Great Liang Dynasty, in Backing Mountain Village.

The villagers all joked that the Song family’s ancestral graves had terrible feng shui. Every last one of them was a brawny simpleton!

Old Song was strong as an ox, yet illiterate. He couldn’t even write his own name without leaving out a few strokes.

The eldest brother was an expert farmer, but when it came to keeping accounts, he could somehow calculate himself out of his own underwear.

The second brother spent his days picking fights in town, a street loafer despised by everyone for miles around.

Yet this gang of roughnecks was determined to sell the pots and pans and tighten their belts to send the family’s frailest, most bookish-looking member, their ten-year-old son Song Jing, to school!

“Our Song family will produce a scholar, even if we have to sell everything we own!”

Looking at his father’s fierce face as he stuffed the family’s only white bun into Song Jing’s hands, Song Jing could only sigh helplessly.

No one knew that behind the dazed look of this ten-year-old boy was the soul of a modern PhD in Chinese language and literature from a top-tier 985 university!

Since his whole family was so fiercely protective of him, he’d take on the job of lifting them all to greatness!

And so...

He used The Art of War to guide his second brother, turning the street loafer into a mighty general who struck fear across the borderlands!

He used Tiangong Kaiwu to advise his eldest brother, turning the honest farmer into an agricultural tycoon who monopolized the Great Liang Dynasty!

As for himself?

With just a few essays on the Eight-Legged Examination style, he casually became the top scorer in all six examinations and the youngest Grand Secretary in the court!

Years later, the ministers of the court trembled as they looked upon the Song family, whose power held sway over the entire realm.

“Weren’t they supposed to be a family of roughnecks? They’re a family of big shots!”
