I’m Really Not the Police Squad’s Secret Weapon

[Urban crime investigation + police procedural + System-assisted case solving + episodic cases + satisfying power fantasy + comic contrast]

Gu Ci, a recent graduate of the Police University, has had a “New Recruit Police Starter Pack” flashing in his mind for three years.

When other people get a System, they rejoice, take off, and start using cheat abilities.

When Gu Ci gets a System, he's told to get a brain CT, psychological evaluation, neurological screening, and a full specialized physical.

Only after confirming that nothing is wrong with him does he officially claim his pack on his first day at the Bincheng Public Security Bureau's Third Criminal Investigation Team.

From then on, one detective skill after another unlocks: expert crime scene investigation, a photographic memory, criminal profiling, trace evidence analysis, video surveillance investigation, interrogation breakthroughs...

In an ordinary burglary case, he can reconstruct the suspect's route into the house from an inconspicuous scuff on the doorframe.

In a complex fraud case, he can identify the mastermind behind layers of deception from the handwriting on a contract.

Difficult murder cases, serial burglaries, new scams, crimes involving counter-investigation... Cases everyone else considers dead ends, unsolved mysteries, or tough nuts to crack all have just one outcome in Gu Ci's hands: solved.

At first, everyone assumes he's just an overly meticulous rookie.

Later, the Third Criminal Investigation Team realizes the new guy isn't simply a stickler for rules. He really can solve cases.

From trainee officer to star detective, from an overlooked team to a model for the entire bureau.

Gu Ci solves case after case and climbs the ranks, bringing evildoers to justice until he writes his name into the legends of China's national criminal investigation system.
