Fujino Kaori, eldest legitimate daughter of the Fujino family. The name Fujino is a status symbol in itself.
The family has influence at home and abroad, and has been on friendly terms with the Atobe family for generations. Their mothers are close friends, and their fathers are sworn brothers, so her betrothal to Atobe Keigo was only natural.
They first met when she was three. Five-year-old Keigo touched his beauty mark. “So you're my fiancée? You're reasonably fabulous.” Three-year-old Kaori turned to her mother and said, “That boy's so full of himself.”
They've been at each other's throats ever since.
From age three to nine, she followed Keigo all over the place. They squabbled whenever they met, while their parents were their biggest fans as a couple.
Kaori was raised strictly from a young age, mastering music, chess, calligraphy, painting, and several languages. She was interested in tennis, but etiquette lessons left her with no time to play. Keigo used his silver tongue to sneak her some time on the court.
In middle school, she finally decided to “take it easy” for once. With her brother's help, she “studied abroad in America.” In reality, she disguised herself as Tomoka Osakada, using makeup to hide her features, tying her hair into twin ponytails, and putting on a Seigaku uniform so she could cheer for Ryoma Echizen every day.
Her identity was exposed on the day Seigaku played Hyotei. Atobe snapped his fingers as the crowd roared, “The winner is Hyotei!” In the middle of it all, Tomoka Osakada rolled her eyes and shouted, “Go, Ryoma!”
Atobe's eyes fell on the wrist she was waving. There was a faded mark there, one he'd drawn himself years ago after she fell.
He touched his beauty mark and smiled.
“Mine.”
