Lin Yi transmigrated.
He had become a useless playboy who drank, gambled, and chased women, and whose cultivation had not improved in ten years. His fiancee was a talented female cultivator, while he was the laughingstock of the entire city.
The good news was, he had a System.
The bad news was, the System said he had only three months to live.
On the day the engagement was to be broken off, the four great clans gathered, with an elder from the Tianxuan Sect presiding. Shen Qingxue pushed the letter of cancellation toward him and said calmly, "Lin Yi, our engagement ends here."
Everyone thought he would cry, make a scene, or get down on his knees and beg her to stay.
Lin Yi picked up his teacup and took a sip.
Then he drew a scroll of white silk from his sleeve.
It was not a letter canceling the engagement.
It was a letter of repudiation.
"From today on, it's not that you, Shen Qingxue, don't want me. It's that I, Lin Yi, don't want you anymore."
The whole room fell silent.
No one knew that the useless man everyone mocked had a Heavenly Spirit Root hidden within him and a comeback System bound to him. Three months later, he would make the entire cultivation world see him in a new light.
And one day, long after she had broken off their engagement, his childhood sweetheart asked him with tearful eyes, "If you could do it all over again, would you still write that letter of repudiation?"
Lin Yi looked at her and smiled. "I would. Because only then would you truly see me."
