Reborn in 1919: Building the Nation Through Industry and Defending Our Homeland

A weak System, hard-core industry, infrastructure building, and stockpiling supplies. The story focuses on how to gradually build a complete industrial system within the historical conditions of the time.

In 1919, amid the surging tide of the May Fourth Movement, the soul of an engineer from 2026 awakens in Liu Shijin, a young Peking University student. The land before him is shattered, his heart torn between fervor and grief, while his mind is packed with mechanical, chemical, and metallurgical blueprints from a century in the future.

He chooses the hardest path, but the one built on the firmest foundations: no empty talk, just putting down roots. Amid the coal dust and cries of Changxindian, he establishes night schools to awaken the workers. He builds up capital through light industry, while, under cover of precision components and basic chemicals, a top-secret “Deep Cellar Project” quietly gets underway beneath the loess of Shanxi, Suiyuan, and Shaanxi.

This is more than an underground factory. It is the original seed of the industrial system of the future republic. Here, every concealed machine tool installed, every batch of specialty steel poured, and every worker trained in new skills forges the industrial backbone indispensable to the coming red regime. The workers’ movement rages in plain sight, while the sparks of technology have already been buried deep underground.

From a single screw to a hidden production line, from a gram of catalyst to a set of military manufacturing standards. With an engineer’s absolute rigor, he quietly lays the strongest foundations for a new China beneath the ruins of the old world. This is the Deep Cellar Project: in the darkest hour, planting the first industrial flame to light China’s road to rejuvenation.
