Bai An, a former distressed-asset liquidator, transmigrates to the Pokemon world and becomes a newly appointed junior inspector for the League.
Watching passionate Trainers shout about “love and bonds” all over town, and seeing one Gym financial report after another riddled with holes, Bai An taps the old tablet in his hand.
“This world is a huge ramshackle operation, drafty on all sides.”
And so, the Kanto region changes.
The Vermilion Gym is shut down, and its Leader, Lt. Surge, tearfully pays seven million as a “hazardous waste cleanup deposit.”
The big boss of the S.S. Anne pays one hundred and fifty million in “special tax consulting fees” to avoid trouble, and even buys a Kalos environmental protection fund on the side.
A low-ranking Team Rocket officer twitches his hand, and gets forced to pay one hundred thousand in “compensation for damages to public order.”
The righteous League higher-ups: “Bai An is a fine colleague. He always manages to legally recover funds to replenish the treasury, though most of it ends up in his own pocket!”
The evil underground factions: “Please, just make that plague god stop checking our books! His Porygon is better at laundering money than we are!”
A certain icy goddess who wishes to remain anonymous: “He... may be a shameless capitalist, but he really does pay well.”
Bai An strokes the high-level pseudo-legendary he just bought (after taking it from another crook), watches the money pour into Porygon’s account, and sighs.
“I never meant to become the mastermind behind the scenes. I just happened to audit the books legally, out of habit.”
