The gods say the black dragon bit through the World Tree and brought on Ragnarok, making it a harbinger of doom that everyone must destroy.
But in Leo’s mind, there’s a crystal-clear memory that tells a completely different story:
The black dragon, covered in blood, bites down on the roots of the tree as they’re corrupted by the void, while Odin, the lofty Allfather of the gods, coldly drives a blade into its back!
An orphan from the bottom of society in a border town, Leo is nearly burned alive as a heretic by the gods because his wounds heal too quickly.
Then one day, he picks up a black shard from the ruins.
