Princess Pingyang Zhaogong: The Woman Buried with Military Honors

She was the founding Tang dynasty's first princess, and the only female general in Chinese history to be buried with military honors: Princess Pingyang, Lady Zhao of the Li clan.

As Li Yuan's legitimate daughter and Li Shimin's elder sister by the same mother, she was born amid the chaos at the end of the Sui dynasty. She cared nothing for the trappings of the boudoir and carried the people in her heart.

In the thirteenth year of Daye, when her father and brothers rose in arms in Taiyuan to vie for the Central Plains, she remained in Guanzhong. She spent her family fortune, recruited volunteers, and rallied powerful local clans, raising the mighty Army of the Lady with her own strength.

She fought at Hu County, pacified Guanzhong, repelled Sui forces, and secured the capital. Though a woman, she rode across the battlefield and won unparalleled victories, shattering the prejudice that women were inferior to men.

No melodramatic romance, no political infighting: this is all about getting things done. She shapes the world with strategy and defends her country with iron resolve.

Grounded in official history and brought to life through legend, this is the story of a peerless princess who rose amid chaos and forged the Tang dynasty's most dazzling legend of a woman general!
