I Splashed My Mother-in-Law From the Start, and I’m Done Being the Chief Minister’s Wife

[The pampered flower of high society, a shrewd, money-loving second wife VS an ascetic, aloof, scheming chief minister] [Marriage before love + intense push and pull + face-slapping and falling for each other + building a career]

Su Wanqing, the beloved daughter of Yangzhou's richest merchant family, marries into the capital to pay off her father's debt and becomes the second wife of Gu Jinyan, the chief minister of the current dynasty.

The whole capital waits to see how this merchant's daughter, reeking of money, will be tormented to death in the strict Gu household.

But on the new bride's very first day…

Her cruel mother-in-law tries to lay down the rules? Su Wanqing splashes hot tea on the ground by her feet. “If you want a grandchild, let me get a good night's sleep. Otherwise, my liver qi will stagnate and affect my ability to bear children. The choice is yours!”

Her sharp-tongued sister-in-law makes snide remarks? Su Wanqing pulls out a gold hairpin and waves it in front of her, dazzling her eyes. “Pretty, isn't it? Your entire year's allowance wouldn't buy you a single tassel from this hairpin!”

Her two-faced sister-in-law tries to sow discord? Su Wanqing slaps a ledger onto the table. “You can't even balance the books and you want to fight for power? Move. You're in the way of me making money!”

Just as everyone waits for the stern and impartial Chief Minister Gu to throw her out with a divorce decree, they see him clean up the mess for her himself, then pull her into his arms and murmur in a low, husky voice, “Wife, does your hand hurt? Next time, let me handle it.”

Then he puts a divorce agreement and a lucrative investment contract in front of her.

“Either sign this, and we go our separate ways, or sign this and become the true lady of the Gu household. I'll give you half my money.”

Su Wanqing curls her red lips and tears up the divorce agreement without hesitation, signing the investment contract instead. “Sounds good. Start by calling me something sweet.”
