The story spans sixty years (1957-2017), and is set in Cangcheng, an ancient water town in the south of the Yangtze River. It tells the story of three generations of the Shen family guarding a group of lost cultural relics. In 1957, when Shen Huaijin, a young cultural relic restorer, was sorting out the warehouse of the Cangcheng Museum, he accidentally discovered a batch of precious cultural relics that had never been registered. This batch of cultural relics involves a dusty history - during the Anti-Japanese War, Chen Yanqiu, a patriotic businessman in Cangcheng, spent all his wealth and secretly purchased and protected a batch of national treasures that were about to be lost overseas. However, he mysteriously disappeared on the eve of liberation. Shen Huaijin accepted the mission of guarding these cultural relics, but encountered confiscation and criticism in special times, and had to move and hide the cultural relics. In the following decades, he dealt with cultural relic dealers and smuggling groups while searching for the descendants of the Chen family, just to fulfill a promise - to return the cultural relics to the country intact and let the descendants of the Chen family know the innocence of their ancestors.
