"Brother Lin, when do you think this day will end?"
In the dark maintenance tunnel, only the searchlights above our heads and the dim emergency lights on the far wall were glowing. Zhang Hao's voice had a slight echo and sounded muffled, just like the feeling of the 15th underground floor.
I was struggling to twist a rusty valve, my hands were covered with engine oil, and I smelled a mixture of rust and ozone.
"What's the matter with a headless man? He has work to do, food to eat, as long as he doesn't starve to death." I replied angrily. This valve looks like it's grown to death, it's so damn fiddly.
"But this is too deep, Brother Lin. We are almost reaching the 'bedrock area'. I heard that further down, there are places where big companies dare not dig casually." Zhang Hao came over, his young face full of worry. He had just graduated from a technical school two years ago, and he still had a lot of unrealistic fantasies and fears about the world below.
