Thunderous Wrath

A subversion of genre conventions + stark, unsentimental prose + irreversible costs

Lu Chenzhou is a maintenance worker. The day he was electrocuted while hanging from a transformer, he heard every sound within three kilometers: a newborn's heartbeat, a pocket watch in the morgue, the rustle of the orange hard candy in a coworker's pocket. Then he heard someone tap a thermos three times. They had come for him. His father used to repair this same transformer, too. He later died in the rift at the Source Point alongside 372 pioneers who refused to leave, waiting for someone to take them home.

This is a story about people who want to go home, and ordinary people willing to take them there.

There is no System in this world, and no transmigration. Awakening comes not from anger, but from hearing. Fighting isn't about defeating an enemy. It's about recognizing that they're newcomers who want to go home too, then helping them leave. The ultimate form isn't destruction. It's teaching even higher-dimensional rulers to tap three times. But the price is absolute: to light the way for others, some part of yourself will go dark forever. Lu Chenzhou will forget the faces of those who matter to him, but he will always remember their voices.

Because there's one simple rule here: three taps mean “I'm here.” If you can listen, don't suppress; if you can reach out, don't destroy; if you can let go, don't kill. People used to think awakening took ruthlessness. Our generation listens instead. Pay extra.

An epic about ordinary people has never needed a hero. The newcomers will rise above those who came before.
