The Celestial Physiognomist of the Late Qing

In the chaos of the late Qing Dynasty, a streetwise fortune-teller named Li Sanque makes his living swindling people on the streets of Tianjin. In truth, he bears the long-lost Heavenly Eye bloodline of the Star-Viewing Tower. But his uncontrollable Heavenly Eye has brought him nothing but bad luck, and the world regards him as a good-for-nothing. Then one day, while saving a mysterious young woman, he is accidentally drawn into a battle for the dragon veins, a struggle reminiscent of the Nine Dragons vying for the throne.

A foreign church plots to sever China’s dragon veins and colonize the land, while the Black Fiend Alliance within the imperial court conspires with foreign enemies to overthrow the dynasty. Li Sanque goes from caring only about making enough money to get by to being forced to shoulder the duty of protecting the nation’s destiny. Armed with a sharp tongue, a rogue’s swagger, and only a smattering of divination skills, he maneuvers among the various factions, face-slaps the powerful, recruits an eccentric band of allies, and unravels an astonishing feng shui formation.

When his Heavenly Eye fully awakens, he discovers that the greatest conspiracy is hidden deep within the Forbidden City... Should he accept Heaven’s will and become a slave in a conquered land, or defy fate and protect China? Watch this little fortune-teller stir up the world and reshape the very order of things!
