Xu Yang, thirty-seven years old, guards a century-old clinic.
Cunrentang, at the corner of the old street, in the shade of sycamore trees. He opens the door at six o'clock every day, grinds ink, takes pulses, and prescribes prescriptions. Put three fingers on the patient's wrist, close your eyes and listen to the pulse, and you can tell what time you went to bed last night, what you ate, and what is pressing on your heart.
Everyone in the alley believed him. See him for headaches and fever, as well as for incurable diseases. He never said "it's okay" or "it's not a big deal". He only prescribed a prescription, three to five doses, and then take it again.
Until the invitation letter from the Provincial Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine was handed to him.
"Doctor Xu, does your medical skill only serve this one alley?"
He didn't answer.
Because only he knows that there is a secret hidden in the unknown medical record left by his grandfather. About the more than ten years since my grandfather disappeared, about the true origin of Cunrentang, and about a name that has been forgotten by the Chinese medicine community for half a century.
And a girl from Bei'an and a medical certificate sixty years late will force him to make a choice.
Guard the alley, or rediscover my grandfather's past?
Reader comments
This is the third novel about traditional Chinese medicine that I have read. The setting of the novel is a small town, and the scenery is described in a very pleasant way. The content about consultation and prescription of medicines is very detailed, which makes people feel comfortable to read. The most important thing is that they can learn professional knowledge about traditional Chinese medicine. Reading novels makes learning less stressful. The pace of my studies since childhood has been different from others. I mostly like to learn slowly by myself. No matter what I do, I do it slowly. When I join a group, my mind starts to get confused. Maybe it's because I'm highly sensitive, or maybe those groups are not suitable or have the wrong aura. I particularly like this book. The author's eloquent narration has a sense of time.
The atmosphere of life is rich. It smells like human fireworks. Good and upright books.
Save traditional Chinese medicine and inherit the quintessence of China.
A very pure medical book!
The writing is good. You can also learn some knowledge about traditional Chinese medicine while listening to the book.
Worth savoring and describing in detail
Very comfortable to read.
The truth is, medicine is like life, it comes slowly.
