After the Great Collapse, the sky is swallowed by a permanent blanket of radioactive clouds. Sunlight becomes a legend, and the wasteland is left with nothing but ash and mutated creatures.
Survivors huddle behind the towering walls of a handful of "purification zones." Outside lie radioactive dust storms, mutated creatures, and a mysterious energy known as "Source Matter." Source Matter can rewrite the laws of matter, and it grants a few awakened individuals supernatural powers. They are known as "Inscribed."
But every power comes at a price. Each time they use their abilities, Source Matter corrodes their bodies: their skin crystallizes, their humanity is stripped away, and they eventually become mindless mutated creatures.
