The protagonist, Lee Olsen Roger, was born in Rogue Town on the Polestar Islands. When he was a boy, he witnessed the execution of the Pirate King Gol D. Roger and came up with the idea of going to the sea to see it.
It's not a cliche pirate story, it's quite good.
