Winds Through the Wheat, Love Across Mountains and Seas

From the wheat fields of northern Anhui to a forest of steel and concrete, Lin Shu thought he could take control of his fate. But in the end, he was swept along by the tides of life, spending half his life caught between love and regret.

He met Shen Zhiyi, as gentle as a poem, and they fell in love in their innocent youth. He could only watch as illness took her away, separating them forever.

He met Su Wan, cool and self-possessed. They grew close at work and fell for each other, but reality and their own reservations made them miss their chance again and again.

He met Chen Lu, passionate and forthright. Her wholehearted devotion lit up his life, yet in the end, all he could do was watch her leave, calling her a friend.

The wind swept across the wheat waves of his hometown, but love was separated by mountain after mountain and a vast sea of people. Some died of illness, some lost to distance, some buried their feelings in the passing years, and some went on alone, keeping their memories close.

After a lifetime of ups and downs, with love and hate fading like smoke, he finally understood: some meetings are destined to end in parting, some deep feelings can only be buried, and the longing that crossed wheat fields, mountains, and seas would become the gentlest, most painful wisp of smoke in the years he had left.
