After entering a world of supernatural rule-based tales and binding himself to a villain-targeting System, Lin Yan is given a mission: win over the ultimate Big Boss, the mad, obsessive source who created the entire world of strange tales and has been imprisoned by its rules for a thousand years.
Lin Yan looks at the warning on his status panel, “Failure means being torn apart by the rules,” and hides his sharp edge behind a gentle expression. He plays the obedient innocent while scheming in secret, exploits loopholes, and keeps the tension taut. Winning someone over has never meant groveling. It means knowing exactly how to handle their heart.
In the dormitory at midnight, he tears apart the rules of death and deliberately provokes the sinister, bloodthirsty incarnation of the vengeful master. At the Yellow Springs Photo Studio, he pretends to obey as he teases out the Boss's deepest obsessions. At the Orphanage of Eternal Night, he defies the System and would rather die than sacrifice the innocent, shattering the Boss's heart, frozen for a thousand years.
Xie Xun, ruler of the world of rules, was betrayed by his dearest friend a thousand years ago and treats all intruders as worthless. Yet for Lin Yan alone, he breaks every rule.
“You dare scheme against me?” He grips Lin Yan's chin, madness and possessiveness in his eyes, but his tone gives away his indulgence. “You won't escape me in this life.”
Lin Yan smiles, his eyes curving as his fingertips brush the loneliness in Xie Xun's gaze. “I never wanted to escape. I only want to tear the rules apart with you and protect the one light left in this world.”
