The Qin Family’s Concubine Flirts Every Day, and Her Aloof Cousin Falls for Her

[Dual POV sweet romance | She pursues him | Her aloof cousin gradually falls for her | One-on-one, both inexperienced | No angst or melodrama] Qin Zhen'er, the illegitimate daughter of the Qin family, has a secret: she plans to choose a husband for herself before her coming-of-age ceremony.

The young heir in the capital is too short, the young prince is too much of a playboy, and the legitimate son is too ugly... No matter how she looks, not one of them catches her eye.

Until the cousin who has come from Luoyang to stay with them opens the door: backlit, clad in a green robe, and as cool and graceful as a painting.

Right then and there, Qin Zhen'er even picks out names for their future children.

So she tears up her matchmaking list, opens a fresh notebook, and writes in earnest: Thirty-Six Ways to Woo My Cousin

First: Know your target. Have the maid ask every day what time he gets up and what tea he likes.

Second: Arrange a chance encounter. Pretend to stumble, fall into his arms, and bask in the scent of peach blossoms.

Third: Appeal to his interests. She sends ginseng soup, makes him clothes, and asks him for calligraphy, but he turns down every offer.

His ears are clearly bright red, yet he says, “Men and women should keep their distance. Please go back, Cousin.”

Qin Zhen'er thinks he hates her and is so upset she could cry.

Until one late night, her aloof, self-controlled cousin climbs over the wall and barges into her room, pulling her into his arms. His voice is low and hoarse:

“Zhen'er, I can't wait any longer.”

Only later does Qin Zhen'er discover that the book he never lets out of his hands is stuffed with little portraits of her.

It turns out her cool and aloof cousin fell for her far earlier, and far more intensely, than she ever imagined.
