In 2147 AD, an unknown event known as the "Great Rip" changed the structure of reality. Certain areas of the earth overlapped with a "horror dimension" filled with terrifying entities and twisted laws. These areas are called "rift zones", where the laws of physics are chaotic and human fears materialize into monsters. The protagonist is the "Abyss Hunters" - a group of special humans who can enter and exit rifts and resist the erosion of fear.
