I'm a Counselor: The Years I Spent as a Counselor

This story is based on real events.

I’d only just become a student counselor when a whole pile of problems landed in my lap.

I couldn’t keep the class in line, the students wouldn’t listen, and I couldn’t even get a class meeting off the ground.

During freshman military training, a colleague secretly made things difficult for me. Supplies were withheld, support fell short, and I was targeted at every turn.

A student from a poor family climbed over the wall one night to work and got injured in a fall. His parents came to the office to make a scene, and I was at risk of being disciplined by the school.

That colleague, relying on connections, kept tripping me up, taking credit for my work, and plotting against me behind my back.

Everyone thought that a vocational college graduate like me, with no connections and no one to back me up, was bound to crumble this time.

But they didn’t know that I’d fought my way from vocational college to a university. I’d never relied on swallowing my pride and taking abuse.

My journey as Lin Du, a student counselor, was never about being an easy target for anyone to push around!
